The animation is lengthy and takes time to transition; the sidebar helps to shorten this experience by providing faster navigation. However, it should be noted that animation also indicates where the user is at in terms of navigation; it shows the direction in which the user has arrived on each section. Therefore, the user knows the direction back to the previous section.
